RUN DETAILS
Kids Fun Run: New for this year, there will be a 600 meter Kids Fun Run that will do a loop around H.H. Knoll Park in Port Colborne. Children up to 11 years old are encouraged to come out and enjoy a fun morning of running and other activities in the Kids Zone; including face painting, colouring pages, and games! All Kids will receive a cotton t-shirt, as well as a finishers' award for their great achievement!!! Parents with young children are encouraged to run along side their child for safety considerations. Please note that only foam swords will be allowed, as well as no eye patches will be allowed during the run. Kids will also have other goodies and prizes, and also take part in the post-race meal and fun! Packet Pick Up: Packet Pick Up will be from 7:00 to 7:55 on Saturday morning. Make sure you collect your bib number, t-shirt and other goodies! Timing: Chip timing will be used to ensure that your finishing time is accurate. Shirts: Kids Fun Run participants will be receiving a high quality cotton t-shirt. 5km Runners and Walkers will be receiving a technical t-shirt. Shirts are not guaranteed after July 15th. Please sign up early to ensure that there will be enough shirts and the correct sizing for you! We have ordered an extra amount of shirts that will be given out on a first come, first served based on when you register for the event. Awards: All 5km Runners, Walkers and Kids Fun Run participants will receive a finishers' award for their achievement! 5km Runners Only: Overall Male and Female Overall Male and Female will also receive 2 tickets to the Empire Sandy Cruise. Boarding time is Saturday, August 4 at 6:30 p.m. and the sailing time is 7:00 p.m. Age Group Awards (No Duplications): 1st place only in each age group, under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ There will also be lots of other prizes, including Best Costume, Top Fundraiser, and many more!!! Thanks to the generosity of our local sponsors, there will also be lots of door prizes to be won! So stick around after the race to see what you might win! Parking: There is lots of parking available. Please see the map for parking locations. There is also lots of parking on the side streets North of the Park available. Course Description and Map: The couse is a 5km route that consists of road and paved multi-use trail. It is mainly flat with some minor hills along Tennessee Avenue. Note: There is a railway crossing. Please be cautious and watch your footing! If you are bringing a stroller along with you, please be advised you are doing so at your own risk. Click here to download the 5km Course Map. Baggage Check: Bags can be checked race morning for a $2 donation to Autism Ontario-Niagara Chapter. Participants are responsible for clearly marking their name and bib number on their bag. For those checking their bag, tags will be available at the Packet Pick Up. No loose items will be accepted for checking. Canal Days Run is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Participants who store their gear will do so at their own risk. All Bags must be checked in by 7:50 a.m. and claimed by 10:00 a.m. Post Race Refreshments: Please join us after the run for refueling and rehydrating! It is now time to sit, relax, and congratulate yourself, friends and family for their fabulous accomplishment of finishing the 5km run/walk and kids fun run. Beverages will include water, juice and pop. Snacks will include fruit (bananas, orange slices, watermelon, etc), muffins, granola bars, and other yummy goodies. |
